Here's something about Drew
Drew-Designs is the platform of Drew Cartwright (that's me). I find the creation of websites challenging & rewarding; It is giving form to an idea via engaging aesthetics, clear writing, and new technology. I love making something functional that looks good, too.
In high school, my focus was commercial art. In only four years of school I managed to squeeze six years of art classes, foreshadowing my college path. After graduating from high school I enlisted in the Army, where I earned money for college while gaining experience and leadership skills. I was recognized with several awards and medals including decorations for conflict operations while deployed leading upto the second Gulf War. Fulfilling my obligation to the U.S. military, I received an Honorable Discharge and set out on my path to higher education.
I attended Indiana Tech for four years, earning two separate degrees. As I studied for an Associate's Degree in Web Design, I simultaneously pursued a Bachelor's in Web Development to learn the underlying information architecture. While attending college full time, I annually administered the regional Skills USA event as well as taught at the Cisco Networking Academy for Web Design. As a regular on the Dean's list, I was recognized by the Collegiate Who's Who and am an Alpha Chi National Honors Society member. For my contributions to the school, I received the 2008 Indiana Institute of Technology Humanities Award. Before my Junior year I formed a small technology business with two fellow university students. My role included producing the marketing materials, interacting with clients, and actualizing the architecture of websites.
After graduation I at last fulfilled my dream of moving to Colorado. Today I do freelance graphic design and Internet development work, and occasionally collaborate with other groups, including Everyday Techs. Additionally I'm a certified ski instructor.
